“So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.”
Psalms 80:18
There is so much decline in the spiritual temperature of a lot of Christians today. The tempo of things in our society today makes it difficult to set time aside to pray. Thus, a lot of ashes have covered most of our prayer altars. No spark of fire; no freshness.
Do you feel heavy in your heart and sometimes reluctant whenever you want to pray? Don’t ever think this is peculiar to you alone. Though we know that we ought to pray, the will isn’t just strong enough. This is the reason why a lot of Christians depend on their pastors to do most of the praying for them. For many others, the only time they get a spark of their spiritual life is on Sundays when fellowshipping with other saints.
Interestingly, King David also experienced this during his days, hence the reason for the prayer. David made a simple heartfelt supplication, which you will also do today. He said, quicken us!
When you are at the lowest moment in your prayer life and you are struggling to pray, like David, just make a heartfelt cry to the Lord, “quicken me, Oh Lord, so that I can call on your name!” Just as a dying plant blossoms afresh at the saint of water, you’ll blossom with life and power again after the Holy Ghost, the quickener breathes freshly on you.
The only way to learn how to pray is to pray. There is no gimmicks to receiving a fresh prayer power if you do not have the discipline to wake up to pray. Do not allow sleep to sap away your power. It is time to rise and trust the Holy Spirit to help you along the way.
