be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2
When Jesus was on earth, his first message was to ‘Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand’ (Mark 4:17). The word ‘repent’ is an interesting one. For many in Christendom, its meaning entails an emotional response to a convincing sermon. However, a closer look reveals that the repentance Jesus spoke of goes far beyond emotion and results in changed beliefs and actions.
The Greek word for repentance is metanoeo and it means to change one’s mind. So Jesus was actually saying to change your mind for the kingdom of God is at hand. Obviously, a changed mind will result in a change of behaviour. In a kingdom context, it produces a different lifestyle, creating a unique culture that reflects the values of the kingdom.
Where does our culture come from as citizens of God’s kingdom? It comes from the Word. The word of God is given to mould us and shape our character; to culture us. God’s word studied meditatively will definitely help anyone imbibe a way of life that is different from the rest of the world.
If you are still moulded by the ideologies of academic professors, your life will be in jeopardy. Get into the scriptures and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you and grant you insight and understanding.
PRAYER: As a citizen of God’s kingdom, I frame my mind by the word of God not by the ideologies of men. My mind is renewed in Jesus name, amen.
CHOICES: Make a choice today to be different in your walk with God. Adopt the kingdom lifestyle and you will useful in the hands of God for His glory
