But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Saviour from there, the Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 3:20
No matter where you live right now, if you believe in Christ, then you are a citizen of the kingdom of God. This life is just a pass through, as you are on temporary assignment as an agent of God. You serve on foreign soil, for heaven is your home.
Certainly, nations and nationalities are important, but they are not eternal. All those who belong to Christ are primarily citizens of His kingdom. This means that all the geographical borders and barriers that separate us have been removed by Christ, and we are all one in Him.
We are ambassadors for Christ, so it is necessary for us to remain on earth in the meantime for the sake of the gospel. Ultimately, our citizenship is in heaven. Our papers are good for eternity. Hallelujah!
PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to live with the consciousness of my kingdom citizenship as I sojourn this earth. Thank you for all the privileges of my citizenship. I pray in Jesus name, amen.
DO THIS: Spend time today praying for two groups of people. First, those who must come to Jesus for new life and for the believers who must rededicate themselves to kingdom living in the local church.
